The Big Midnight Santa Dash 2009
A BIG thank you to all that attended the very first Joshua Foundation BIG Midnight Santa Dash on Friday December 11th making it a great success!
The 10 mile route around the Cardiff Bay area began at the oval basin in the bay at midnight after a fantastic disco and festive warm up. The first ‘Santa’ runners came in just 1 hour and 22 minutes after setting off! With the last ‘Santa dashers’ coming in just before 3am after braving the freezing temperatures in their Santa suits! Everyone had a fantastic time coming back to warm up with mulled wine and mince pies.
The BIG Midnight Santa Dash was created to raise money towards the Joshua Foundation’s annual Lapland Trip that takes children suffering with terminal cancer and their families from all over the UK to meet the ‘real’ Santa in Lapland. This magical once in a lifetime trip enables these children to forget about their pain and suffering for a day to enjoy a trip full of excitement taking sleigh rides with Rudolph, riding with huskies and on snowmobiles whilst playing in the snow and sitting on Santas lap!
With more than 150 families in Cardiff Heath hospital alone and a cost of £1,500 per family and a waiting list to go, we need to continue to raise as much funds as possible to make this incredible Lapland experience a reality year after year for as many children as possible.
We aim to make the Santa Dash even bigger and better for 2010 so look out for information on the website in 2010 and come and sign up to take part!
Additionally, if you would like to help our Lapland experience you can make regular or one off donations to this experience. Simply read about the Lapland Club or contact us on the detail below.
We would like to say a HUGE thank you again to all that participated in this years Santa Dash and those that helped make it possible.
The Joshua Foundation Team.
