Friday 22nd September 2006 saw the Joshua Foundation’s
new fundraiser,
“Lite the Nite”, at Coopers Field,
Cardiff kicking off in style with over 500 participants.
This new fun walk for families and all who want
to support our work with children with terminal
cancer, was a great success raising over £10,000
towards our work. All day the Joshua Foundation’s
staff worked hard, tying wristbands to balloons
and more baguettes than you can imagine.
In conjunction with the Celtic Manor, Real Radio and
a host of entertainers, a fantastic evening
was had by all. Kappicino’s of Cathays
did us proud with refreshments and after a small
panic with the power we were ready to go!
What a wonderful sight it was to see 500 illuminated
balloons literally “ lighting up the night”,
almost 8 years to the date that the charity
started. Most of the participants walked the
route and some brave souls were a bit more energetic
and ran it. At the end we released balloons
in memory of Joshua Cornelius and it celebrated
the end of a truly “ illuminating evening”.
Look out for details of the 2007 “ Lite
the Nite” events in Swansea, Fishguard,
and Cardiff.
