Inaugural Meeting - Kookaburra Society

Saturday 28th October 2006 saw the inaugural meeting of the Kookaburra Society; the organisation established for past oz experience team members. The idea behind this society is to allow past team members the opportunity to stay closely involved with the work of the Joshua Foundation and to continue a fundraising role at the same time.

36 ex team members and team leaders met in Rotherhithe London and the first Kookaburra Committee was elected as follows-

Chairperson - Jennifer Howlett
Vice-Chairperson - Sarah Lee

Senior Secretary - Christine Minshull
Junior Secretary - Rachel Lunn

Senior Treasurer - Naomi Davies
Junior Treasurer - Rhys Williams

Senior Events Manager - Gemma Burke
Junior Events Manager - Hannah Brammall

Senior Marketing & PR Officer - Mike Clarke
Junior Marketing & PR Officer - Robert Abrahams

Senior Team Leaders Co-ordinator - Lauren Lewis
Junior Team leaders Co-ordnator - Katrina Davies

Two other people were particularly interested in being on the committee and they are two individuals that I feel would add a great deal- I have appointed them totally because I can- they are Scott Kelly and Stevie Leckowicz and they will take up position as Senior and Junior Business Officers. Their role will be to look at business involvement with the Kookaburra Society.

A great time was had by all and after the meeting the group went for dinner at Planet Hollywood, Leicester Square which was where Joshua Cornelius first asked for the charity to be started. The first committee meeting of the Kookaburra Society will take place in Birmingham on Saturday January 6th 2007.
