Final of Miss UniverseGB 2010

The final of Miss UniverseGB 2010 took place on Sunday 2nd May 2010, at the ICC in Birmingham.

Finalists from across Great Britain came together at the ICC to battle it out for the prestigious title of Miss UniverseGB 2010.

The lucky winner was stunning Tara Hoya's Martinez from London, who also scooped the title of Miss Charity as she raised over £2,400 for The Joshua Foundation!

Tara was closely followed by 1st runner up Kelly Pesticcio and 2nd runner up Kathryn Lane.

All of the finalists in the competition fundraised for the Joshua Foundation and have helped contribute to the fantastic £75,000, which has been raised over the last three years by the Miss UniverseGB contestants. This amount is a fantastic testament to how hard the girls work within the competition to raise funds for children with terminal cancer.

The winners had a very special treat in that they presented with their prizes by three very special flower girls from the charity. Tia Small, Jasmine Lewis and Donna Degg from Birmingham's Children's hospital all came along with their families to the final and then presented the winners with their prizes on the stage.

All three girls and their guests were picked up from their homes by stretch limo and taken to the Gourmet Burger restaurant in the Mailbox. Once they had eaten they were then taken to the ICC for the final of Miss UniverseGB 2010. Once there, the girls were treated like little princesses and even had the opportunity to strut their stuff on the catwalk and even got to go back stage and meet all of the finalists and the celerity judges!

All of the families had a fantastic night, but were very tired by the end of the night and were pleased to see their limos arrive to take them home. However there was one final treat for them all in the shape of a large Harvey Nichols box filled with lots of sweets and chocolates from their luxury food hall. Mum's and dad's were not left out and received a lovely bottle of Moet champagne (which hopefully they didn't drink on the way home)!

The charity now looks forward to working with Tara over the next 12 months as she becomes an ambassador for The Joshua Foundation.
