Daniel woke at 6 am this morning ,so excited about going in a Tank! It was lovely to see him so excited about something again. As we drove into the Tank School Alistair was waiting for us and was very friendly and welcoming to us all. He showed Dan the A P C (Armoured Personnel Carrier) and let him climb into the back and use the headphones etc. He had a colleague Mile with him who used to drive these vehicles for the Army years ago driving. They let Dan sit at the front between them as you will see from the photos and the drive took about 45 minutes. They stopped at one point and actually let Dan drive is on a flat area. Dan was so thrilled! When he climbed out he just said" This is the best day of my life!"
Alistair also has a small airstrip in one of his fields and Dan stood with him on the field when a small plane landed . The pilot let Dan sit in the cockpit and we watched him take off and leave later in the day. The Alistair's Mother had made some sandwiches and served them with coffee and cake. Finally the Russian Tank! Dan was shown this huge tank, kept in a large barn Dan was in awe! He was allowed to climb up and look inside with Alistair chatting about how he brought it back from Poland and how it works etc. Dan pulled the trigger on the gun and had a ride when the turret turned. It was fabulous!
Dan has enjoyed this treat so much and Alistair's knowledge and hospitality have made for a perfect day. We are so grateful to you and the Joshua Foundation for making this happen today. Thank you so much for arranging this for my very happy boy!!
