Merthyr

128 women came along to take part in the first ever, Merthyr Ab Fab midnight walk!

The event was a massive success and a fantastic atmosphere was created by the positive and upbeat walkers. Predominantly most of the walkers were women, but we did have a couple of brave men who came along dresses as very strange looking women! This all added to the fun, party atmosphere that was created on the night.

Walkers arrived at D W sports in Merthyr from 10pm onwards, to register for the walk. Once they had registered and received their Ab Fab t shirts, they had the opportunity to have a look around some of the stalls, which were situated in the marquee outside the gym. These included Virgin Vie, Herbal Life, Safer Merthyr, Kaz the Tarot card reader and Ann Summers. The walkers were even treated to free manicures and neck massages by some of the students from the Eclipse beauty salon at Merthyr College. The disco was also on hand to play all of the ladies favorite girlie songs and this was provided by Hywell and his team from Swansea Radio.

All the walkers warmed up to the cha cha slid! And had a good laugh watching Phil the manager of D W Sports trying to keep up with all the moves! The walk was then started by Miss Merthyr and Phil the manager of the gym and all of the women were really fired up for their 10 mile walk!

Marshals lined the route and tried their best to keep the walkers motivated. The first group of walkers, were back in record breaking time and were welcomed back with a glass of orange juice and a bacon roll!!

All of the walkers were also provided with a goodie bag at the end of the walk, this contained lots of information and treats for them!

All in all the event was a great success and the rain held off long enough to see the last of the walkers return.

The Joshua Foundation would like to thank all of the walkers for giving up their Saturday night to come along and raise funds for children with terminal cancer. And we would also like to thank everyone involved in the vent for making it such a success.

We look forward to doing it again next year only bigger and better!!!!

Fishguard

A big well done to approximately 100 ladies for completing the 10 mile Ab Fab midnight walk in Fishguard last Friday 23.4.10.

The walk was a huge success with the fastest walkers finishing in 2 hours and 20 minutes!!

A big thank you to all the marshals for the night who were absolutely fantastic, ensuring the women’s safety and really making sure that the ladies were encouraged. Spirits were high right up until the end.

Thanks also to Beaches café (Jackie and Paul) who stayed open all night for us and provided the best bacon butties. Also to Miranda and Charlotte who took over all the registrations freeing up the TJF staff to make sure the walkers were all looked after and marshals were provided with coffees etc.

So now girls all we need from you is to get your sponsorship money in as soon as possible so we can start using this for experiences for the children, keep an eye on the website for an update on totals and we look forward to seeing you all next year!!

Newport

Well Done to all the ladies of Newport for giving up a nights sleep to walk 10 miles around Newport Centre For The Joshua Foundations Ab Fab walk. A night of fun was had by all and everyone’s spirits were high right through to the bitter end where all walkers had bubbly and champagne.

Once again we would ask that any one who is interested in marshalling these walks please contact us in advance as we always need more to ensure the safety of our ladies.
