Sunday October 19th, 2008 was filled with music in Nottingham at the prestigious Colwick Hall Hotel.
The evening entitled “Introducing the Voice of Benjamin Price” was a charity fundraising concert for The Joshua Foundation.
As well as raising money for the charity it promoted a member of staff at The Joshua Foundation; Ben Price. Ben,
a resident of Nottinghamshire, wanted to put on a charity concert for some time.
The audience were welcomed with a glass of bucks fizz before taking their seats. The evening was very informal,
music ranged from Handel and Schubert to Sondheim and Nat King Cole.
Also for the evening we had some very special guests!!
Sarah Cornelius, our Chief Executive compared for the evening. She explored all dimensions of music and its origins.
By using the evenings programme and her own research she foretold a story and a tale. What a truly special woman!
A dear friend Victoria Grey from The Royal College of Music in London joined us for the evening as well as the prodigy
himself, Mr Michael Neaum at the piano.
For the first time Nottingham caught a glimpse of some of the singers from our concert at The Millennium Centre on
December 4th, 2008. 5 chorus members from the concert travelled up to sing some of the songs from the concert. It was just
a sneak preview of what will be a memorable evening.
To finish the evening we had a special finale. Sarah Cornelius sang “The Rose” dedicating the song to her son Joshua. There wasn’t
anyone without a tear in their eyes. She sang with such meaning, such integrity. A beautiful voice for a beautiful song.
Thank you for everyone who attended the evening. This one night helped us even more with our goal of providing life changing
experiences for children with terminal cancer.
