Monday 30th June, 2008 saw a brand new connection with the charity. The London Community Gospel Choir (LCGC) are an internationally renowned choir and have been growing in the music world for 26 years and over those years they have worked with such artistes as Madonna, Westlife and have just recently performed at Wayne Ronney’s wedding.
They are in great demand all over the world, but on Monday 30th June, 2008 they entertained The Harrison and Copper Family from Nottingham for the day at their headquarters in Walthamstow. Music really lifted the walls!!!
Everybody met at Queens Medical Centre bright and early at 8am for their ride down to London for a morning session with the choir. Rev Bazil Meade (Choir Principle) led the day and he was very keen to hear everyone singing. After learning such songs as Oh Happy Day and Down By The Riverside it was time for lunch. With a short ride up to Enfield everybody indulged at TGI Fridays.
During lunch we had huge combos of chickens wings and bbq ribs before adding something a bit more special to the day which were HMV vouchers for Rachael and her sister Amy Harrison and Alex Cooper. By this point everyone was eager to get back for an afternoon session with the choir.
The rest of the afternoon was really magical. Members of the choir came and joined us and all we could see were smiles on everyone’s faces. As it reached 4.30pm it was time to say our "goodbyes". The choir had a little goodybag full of LCGC merchandise for Racheal, Amy and Alex and this was the time for all pictures to be taken.
What a truly magical day!!! The choir really lifted everyone’s spirits and horizons. Thank you to everyone who was involved and we cannot wait to work more with The London Community Gospel Choir very soon!!
