When The Joshua Foundation was approached by Nicky Goodfellow of British Gas to tell us that they had adopted us as their chosen charity for the last quarter of 2007, we were really pleased. When Katrina from The Joshua Foundation went to British Gas to meet Nicky and the team, they talked about The Lapland trip that The Joshua Foundation runs on an annual basis for the children and their families, and based on previous quarter’s fundraising, it was established that everyone at British Gas would hopefully raise enough money to cover the costs of one family to go on this magical trip. Never did we imagine that British Gas employees would raise the amount of money for us that they did, covering the costs of 5 families to go to Lapland - a whopping
£8194.26
As the photo’s show, British Gas staff really got into the spirit of fundraising, and took on many different activities, with two team managers within British Gas and their teams competing to raise the most money – after just one day, they had raised over £570 and within two weeks they had already raised £3265!!
At the end of the year, British Gas very kindly invited the families that went to Lapland and the staff from The Joshua Foundation to their offices to present the cheque, and to tell everyone how they raised the money – they also put on a fantastic spread. It also enabled the families and staff to meet the staff at British Gas who so enthusiastically helped raise such a massive amount of money, and also for the British Gas staff to meet the children and the families that went to Lapland.
Everyone at The Joshua Foundation would like to say a massive Thank You to everyone at British Gas who helped to raise such a fantastic amount of money, and in doing so helped to make a difference to the lives of children with cancer and their families.
