Inspirational Woman of the Year 2007

The Joshua Foundation’s Chief Executive Sarah Cornelius was nominated as the "Inspirational Woman of the Year" for the Welsh region , in the Daily Mail / Marks & Spencers national competition. This is a new competition launched in support of ‘Wellbeing of Women.’

Sarah was chosen as the ‘most inspirational woman in Wales’, and invited to the national finals in London at the Dorchester Hotel , Park Lane on 26th June 2007. Unfortunately Sarah was away in France on that date, so she was represented at the Final by her father Adrian Cornelius, who had nominated her for the award.

Prior to the London event, Sarah & Adrian were guests of the Marks & Spencer’s Store at Culverhouse Cross where they chose outfits to wear to London as part of the prizes for finalists.

Adrian, proudly representing Sarah, was feted at the Dorchester Hotel, Park Lane, sitting down to lunch with the other four finalists from across the country, prior to a photo-shoot organised by Campbell’s Production Group , the event organiser. In the evening the finalists joined celebrities from across the media-entertainment world, together with senior executives of the Daily Mail , and Marks & Spencers ( including CE Stuart Rose) at a spectacular dinner hosted by TV Presenter Kirsty Young. Other guests included Henry Kelly who raised an amazing sum of money via an auction, and Guest Speaker Rory Bremner.

Each of the finalists were featured in a five minute video presentation (*); with Sarah and the Joshua Foundation being well received by the audience. During the award ceremony, Adrian was escorted to the stage by his personal host .. Eve Pollard , before being interviewed by Kirsty Young. Adrian reported that it was amost enjoyable evening , quite an awesome experience... involved with such a group of inspirational women.

The 2007 Inspirational Woman of the Year Award was won by Lesley Henderson representing the North East region. Lesley has set up a centre for autism development to support children with autism like her son Toby.
