Pat & Adrian represented the Foundation at a number of events
1. Ammanford
An event was held at Ammanford, where the construction site workers of COSTAINS presented a cheque
for £1250 as support for Danielle Stephens ( a 2008 Oz participant).
The Costain men had just completed building a by-pass for Ammanford ... and had made the
Wine Bar .. their local pub [ ... Mum is the mine host at the pub ]
2. Samira's Presentation
As part of her Miss Wales challenge, Samira Mohammed Ali ( Miss Neath) arranged a presentation at the
Grandison Hotel, Briton Ferry. Pat & Adrian were present to receive a cheque for £600 towards Samira’s
total collection. At the Miss Wales event, Samira was selected as ‘Miss Charity’ - with the splendid
total of nearly £6000. At the end of the presentation, all the pub regulars & guests released balloons
in Joshua’s memory.
3. Sporting Charity Luncheon [ Celtic Crusaders RLFC ]
A charity luncheon was held at the Brewery Field, Bridgend ... in aid of The Joshua Foundation ... with
some ninety guests from local + national businesses in attendance.
The guests were addressed by two guest speakers before lunch on team work + building positive
attitudes by Thibault Giroud & John Dixon of the Crusader’s coaching staff. The guest also enjoyed a
splendid lunch , before receiving a powerful emotive presentation by Pat Cornelius ( Joshua’s grandmother)
The formal presentation was followed by a raffle & auction ... conducted by Peter Cooksley.
The raffle raised just under £500 and the auction amount has not yet been confirmed.
4. LITTLEHAMPTON ... "JAMIE’S WISH" EVENT [ 30th June ]
The town of Littlehampton (W Sussex) turned out in force to help celebrate "Jamie’s Wish" ... a fundraising event
in aid of the Joshua Foundation.
Jamie was sixteen when he went to Lapland with his family courtesy of the Joshua Foundation in 2004. The whole
family had a fabulous time on the trip, so Jamie vowed to raise money for the Foundation ... as his way
of saying thanks ! He was so determined that he spent much of his time when not receiving treatment at the Royal
Bristol Hospital planning the big event. Unfortunately , brave Jamie died just two weeks before the event
date. However, the family, together with his friends were so determined that his wish should be fulfilled ... that
the event went ahead as planned.
Pat & Adrian represented the Foundation at the event ... and what a time was had by all. A series of events
took place in a local pub ... despite the horrendous weather.. including flower & book stalls , food stalls and
many gaming events. Local musical groups entertained the attendees , and good fun was abundant. The highlight
of the afternoon was the "PUB OLYMPICS" ... with throwing the discus (beer mats), throwing the javelin (cocktail
sticks) and putting the shot (peanut ) ... and an ‘egg & spoon race’ around the town. The Town Mayor .. assisted
by Pat Cornelius ... presented the medals to the winners.
