Miss. Wales 2007 has been crowned

The 40 finalists strutted their stuff to a jam-packed Coal Exchange down in Cardiff Bay on Saturday 7th July. The girls sparkled like little Welsh diamonds in the rounds - Welsh-wear, Club-wear, Casual-wear and the final ball-gown round. The event was hosted by Jason Harrold of Red Dragon FM and Miss. Wales 2006, Sarah Fleming.

The competition was fierce and the atmosphere was full of excitement and tension from all the families and friends who were there to support their girls...

Kelly Pesticcio

Finally, after much deliberation by the judges - Alex Jones, Huw Morgan, Mike Phillips, Glyn Wise, Sarah Cornelius and Claire Evans, the crown and title of Miss. Wales 2007 was given to Kelly Pesticcio.

23 year-old Kelly, from the Old St Mellons area of Cardiff, is currently studying to be a doctor at Leicester University. Her inspiration to become a doctor is in part due to her being diagnosed with scoliosis, a congenital abnormality of the spine.

Samira Mohamed-Ali

We would like to congratulate Kelly on her triumph as Miss. Wales 2007, and also Samira Mohamed-Ali who incredibly raised over £5,000 for The Joshua Foundation, claiming this year’s Miss. Charity title. They have proven that beauty really does have a purpose and we look forward to working with them both over the coming years.

We would also like to say a huge congratulations and extend our thanks to Cara Dattani, Samantha Gerrard, Rhiannon Herridge, Emma-Jayne Morales, Alexandra Morgan and Bethan Vaughan who will all be travelling to Lapland at Christmas-time with our terminally ill children and families, as they each raised over £2,000 for the charity.

We look forward to working with all the girls in the near future and hope that they’ll remember us for a long time to come...

Overall, as it currently stands, the Miss. Wales competition this year has raised £50,517.02 for The Joshua Foundation, this will be used in many ways and will help us to continue our work for children with terminal cancer and their families throughout the UK.
