The sun was shining beautifully in Cardiff on Sat. 23rd June as this year’s Miss. Wales finalists arrived at the Copthorne Hotel in Cardiff. On arrival, the finalists were greeted by Hannah B, organiser of the Cardiff Challenge and Sarah Cornelius CEO and were given special Miss. Wales-Joshua Foundation t-shirts.
When all of the registered finalists had arrived, the girls were then split into 5 teams and let loose about Cardiff Bay and the City centre areas. The girls had come from as far as Devon to take part and were all super-enthusiastic and ready to get going. Their afternoon was spent answering questions, completing tasks and having their photo taken with various things, such as policemen, a Norwegian, on the bridal suite of a major hotel, with a Cardiff Blues fan and in a convertible car. There was also a section of the challenge where the teams had to try and blag some goodies for our future fundraising events, they managed to come back with; a premiership football, a Nokia mobile phone, a Vodafone Bluetooth headset, a perfume gift set, 2 tickets to the ‘Take That’ musical, a bay cruise, meal vouchers, store vouchers, family days out, a pink roller suitcase, bottles of champagne, bottles of wine, boxes of chocolates to name but a few!! They also managed to get toys, games, stickers and books for our family support department which will be sent to our caravan and apartments.
After 5 hours of frantic madness, the finalists met at the castle end of Queen Street with bag after bag of goodies and some stayed for a meal afterwards.
After the scores were added up, the results were as follows:
1st place (1810 points): ‘Joshua’s Angels’ - Yasmin, Samira, Sam G, Kim, Tonia, Jade and Kelly
2nd place (1740 points): ‘The Dragon Divas’ - Amie Jayne, Emma Jayne, Lucy, Charlene W & Ashleigh
3rd place (1435 points): ‘Welsh Princesses’ - Hanah, Bethan, Caryl, Clare & Rachel S
4th place (925 points): ‘Charlene’s Angels’ - Charlene B, Rosie, Tabitha, Alex, Anna and Victoria
5th Place (895 points): ‘Dream come true’ - Emma, Sarah R, Rhiannon, Chloe and Lucia.
Well done to the winners and also to everyone who put their whole heart into making it such a fantastic day. I would like to personally thank each of the finalists for their commitment and energy which they bought to the challenge. I know that each of them had a fantastic time and I look forward to seeing them all at the charity ball and final!
The very best of luck to you all...
