Today
The Joshua Foundation, a charity which provides
holidays and experiences for children diagnosed
with terminal cancer, has received a funding
boost of £3.000 from the team at the Vodafone
in Cardiff.
The funding will go towards the 2007 Halloween
Party for children with terminal cancer and
their families. The funding has been granted
through The Vodafone UK Foundation's initiative
to encourage fundraising and charitable giving
at a local level through their stores. Each
of Vodafone's 15 retail regions can pitch for
grants of up to £10,000 for charitable
causes under the theme of `unlocking the potential
in young people'.
Grants are then considered by The Vodafone
UK Foundation trustees to ensure donations make
a positive difference to the lives of young
people in the area. £500,000 has been
committed to Vodafone retail stores across the
UK, which will be granted over the next three
years.
Justin
Redrup Regional Manager for Vodafone said: `
I am delighted that we are able to contribute
to The Joshua Foundation's work in Cardiff and
help local young people in the area. There are
25 Vodafone stores across the region so we feel
it is important for us to help work on our area.
It is also inspiring to see what can be achieved
at a local level through The Vodafone UK Foundation
working in partnership with Vodafone Retail.'
