In 2008 The Joshua Foundation was honored to be adopted by Miss UniverseGB, which is owned by
VibePR. Miss UniverseGB is a qualifier for the Miss Universe Competition
which is owned by Donald J. Trump and NBC Universal joint venture- From what was a local “bathing beauty” competition on Long Beach in
1952 it has become a global sensation raising millions for charities. www.missuniverse.com
May 4th 2008 (take to news article on TJF website-under Calendar of Events- 2008- “Miss UniverseUK Grand Final, London”) saw the first ever Great
Britain final at Café de Paris, Leicester Square, London. 38 young glamorous ladies took part in this spectacular event. The girls only had 6 weeks
to fundraise for The Joshua Foundation and an amazing £35,000 was raised. We couldn’t believe the horizons which were achieved.
Lisa Lazarus from South Wales was crowned that evening as Miss UniverseGB 2008 and her next dream
was to take part in the final of Miss Universe in Vietnam. During her years reign she has traveled to all sides of the globe and
took part in another venture being cast in a Bollywood Film and spending many weeks filming in India. As the winner of Miss
UniverseGB Lisa became an Ambassador for The Joshua Foundation. Throughout her year she has kept on fundraising and has
supported the charity at many events and more importantly has helped us change many lives for children with terminal cancer. Thank you Lisa!!

May 3rd 2009 (take to news article on TJF website-under News-Latest News- “Miss UniverseGB Final 2009”) saw the second
final of Miss UniverseGB at The ICC in Birmingham. Like last years event the girls were ready and waiting to fundraise
and with 35 in the final we knew we were going to get a good response and we sure did…an amazing £32,000 was raised.
This was such an amazing contribution to the charities work. Clair Cooper from
London was crowned our new Miss Universe 2009. She is currently getting prepared for the final of Miss Universe 2009
in the Bahamas on August 23rd, 2009. Clair has many plans ahead as Ambassador for The Joshua Foundation and I am sure
she will fulfill her title in the Bahamas and achieve many dreams.
All will be revealed at the Final of Miss Universe, but Clair and Lisa and all the contestants who take part in Miss
UniverseGB to us are all winners. These are women who are determined, glamorous and courageous. These are 3 qualities
which are sometimes hidden and mislead, however this competition has made girls into women and has provided a platform
where dreams can be achieved.
