Easter arrived early for 30 children from the Children’s Hospital of Wales as together with their mums, dads and siblings they were treated to a very special breakfast at The Hard Rock Café, Cardiff on Sunday, 28th March. The children & their parents arrived bleary eyed after loosing an hours sleep due to the clocks going forward the night before – Joshua Foundation staff looked even worse as they had been up all night organising a midnight walk for ladies in Merthyr Tydfil!! A gorgeous cooked breakfast soon woke everybody up and the children enjoyed making cards, painting eggs and making Easter bonnets with the lovely Lily from Hard Rock Café.
Loopy Lews provided the entertainment and soon had Captain Jack from the UK Garrison participating in the show and all children laughing at his antics. Loopy Lews did lots of balloon modelling and magic tricks and the storm troopers posed for pictures all morning. The entrance of a 7 foot Easter Bunny on stilts soon had the little ones scattering back to mums and dads until he brought out the Easter eggs and they soon came back to have their pictures taken.
The Easter bonnet competition proved to be the toughest yet – such effort went into making the bonnets it was so hard to pick a winner – a huge thank you to all parents for the hard work and time taken to make the bonnets. Easter eggs were provided for the children by the kind staff at Eversheds, ING and Go Compare.Com – huge thanks to all staff that very kindly took eggs into work. The morning was a huge success and enabled the families to escape from their child’s illness for a few precious hours.
