On Sunday 7th June a Mad Hatters Tea Party hosted by Barclaycard was held at Holland House Hotel, Cardiff for 27 families from the oncology unit at the Heath Hospital. To say the event was spectacular would be an understatement, walking into the room was like walking into a fairy tale with giant mushrooms, enchanted flowers, 6ft flamingoes and a huge enchanted forest tree.
Barclaycard staff dressed up as giant playing cards, The Mad Hatter, The Queen of Hearts and of course Alice herself and the white rabbit were there. To entertain the children, Barclaycard had organized an art and craft table where children could decorate hats and crowns, a mini disco with prizes and party dances, face painting and balloon modeling and of course the most important part the actual tea party with hot dogs, curly fries and burgers. Families had a huge surprise when they were told they could have a family portrait done by a professional photographer with a huge Alice in Wonderland scene behind them - what a fabulous momento to take away as a reminder of a great day!
Everybody at The Joshua Foundation would like to extend their huge thanks to the team at Barclaycard for all their hard work spent fundraising for the event and the actual organization of the event itself - the families were treated to a fabulous afternoon and we cannot thank them enough.
