We are organizing our first Y Shop...Clothes Swap Evening at Comfortably Numb on Friday 20th February 2009.

The Joshua Foundation has its own Café Bar in central Cardiff where all the profits go to the work of the charity and in line with its charity status but not wishing to be seen as a traditional charity shop, in these difficult times we are bringing to Cardiff a trend that is popular in London and New York. Instead of gathering all your unwanted clothes and throwing them away or dropping them off at a High Street Charity Shop, you can bring the clothes to our Y Shop...Clothes Swap Evening at Comfortably Numb.

If you have regretted buying those heels that were always a size too small, or that dress that was never your colour or that gorgeous hat which you have worn to so many weddings you can’t possibly be seen in again, then this is for you. Most people have many items sitting in their wardrobe that they are unlikely ever to wear again for various reasons, and if you find e-bay a bit of a time consuming hassle and you can’t quite bear to hand them over to the local charity shop, this could be just the solution.

Our first Y Shop...Clothes Swap Evening at Comfortably Numb will be held on Friday 20th February 2009 at 7p.m. You can drop off up to 10 items of clothes and accessories at the Joshua Foundation’s offices at 42 Station Road, Llanishen, Cardiff from February 9th until February 18th. You will be given points for the items you drop off , ie 10 items of clothes will be 100 points and these can be used to swap or redeem against clothes on the night of the 20th February. Tickets for the event are £5 and are limited to 2 per person dropping off clothes. ( You will be sold these when you come along to the office to hand in clothes etc.) There will be bucks fizz and nibbles on the night so it’s a chance to have fun, swap some clothes and raise money for our work with children with terminal cancer all at the same time!

The night will be set up rather like a sample sale, clothes are hung on rails for browsing and according to sizes and types. There will be a premium of 300 points to purchase any designer pieces dropped in but most items will be priced from 50 points to 200 points.(Every 50 points = £5) So if you have 100 points to redeem and you want 2 items priced 50 points and 150 points, you will pay just £ 10 for the 2 items!! Just remember - Someone else’s throw aways, could turn out to be your treasure!

For everyone to have a fantastic evening please follow a few rules below!

• If price tags/labels are still attached to items, as you have never worn the items, please leave them on.You can only bring 10 items and they must be Ladies clothes and accessories ONLY.
• Items should be sorted into size and style categories.
• Bring dresses, blouses, blazers, suits, coats on hangers, Accessories - please separate items into plastic bags. Shoes & Handbags must be stylish and gently worn. Bring shoes in their box if you still have it.
• Please state when an item is fake.
• Doors open at 7 p.m and guests will be offered a glass of champagne and nibbles will be available.
• The Y Shop...Clothes Swap Evening at Comfortably Numb will commence at 8.00p.m. You can try on anything you need to, there will be a group dressing area for guests to try on clothes.
• Items not swapped/purchased by the end of the event will either continue to be displayed on a rail at the Comfortably Numb Café for customers to purchase or may be kept for the next Y Shop...Clothes Swap Evening at Comfortably Numb in April 2009.
• The Y Shop...Clothes Swap Evening at Comfortably Numb is designed as a fun alternative charity shop experience which also provides a party atmosphere, a great networking opportunity, but it does NOT guarantee you will find garments to swap.

Get sorting your cupboards and don’t forget you can drop off clothes from Monday 9th February to Wednesday 18th February at 42 Station Road, Llanishen, Cardiff (above the florist) up until 5p.m Monday to Wednesday; Thursday and Friday up until 7p.m and on Saturday 14th February from 10a.m to 1p.m. Alternatively if you contact us we can arrange for them to be dropped off at the Comfortably Numb Café Bar.
