Miss UniverseUK 2008 Crowning

In a Glittering Ceremony held in Café De Paris, Leicester Square, London on 4th May 2008, hosted by Tony Shepherd of Capital FM, Lisa Lazarus was crowned Miss UniverseUK 2008, with Jamie Williams coming as 2nd Runner Up and Holly Hill 1st Runner Up

The excitement mounted as the 38 contestants from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales strutted their stuff in all their finery to a sellout audience, taking part in three catwalk rounds including a little black dress round, bikini round and the final stunning ball gown round.

The panel of 8 judges included Arsenal players Bacary Sagna and Justin Hoyte, Kemal Shahin of Big Brother, and our very own Sarah Cornelius.

As the chosen charity of the 2008 Miss UniverseUK competition, the contestants carried out fundraising on behalf of The Joshua Foundation, and in just over 6 weeks they raised a staggering £35,000, and with money still coming in, this figure is set to rise!! Sarah Rowlands from Welshpool claimed the title of Miss Charity raising over £4000 - what an achievement, and whilst only one contestant can be crowned Miss UniverseUK 2008, in our eyes all the contestants are winners, every contestant put in a lot of effort to fundraise for children with terminal cancer, with events ranging from fashion shows, auctions and quiz nights to name a few, and The Joshua Foundation would like to extend a sincere Thanks to every contestant - they have proven that beauty really does have a purpose.

The Joshua Foundation would also like to extend a massive thanks to Vibe Models - organizers of the Miss UniverseUK 2008 competition for adopting The Joshua Foundation for this event.
