In December 2000 TJF launched a new fundraising
programme -Children’s Concerts which are designed
not only to raise funds but also to provide young
people with the opportunity to perform at some of
the UK’s premier concert venues.
On December 4th 2000 the 'Celebration of Life'
concert was held with a cast of over
500 youngsters. This was followed in
2001 by the “One Voice” concert, in
2002 with the 'Something Inside So Strong'
show and in 2003 with the fantastic
'A New Day Has Come' concert.
The concerts are written and produced by Sarah
Cornelius, the CEO of the Joshua Foundation and
are designed to send a powerful message to the
children and the audience- that life is a
fantastic experience and that each individual has
a valuable contribution to make to the lives of
others. The standing ovations say it all.
These concerts have been sponsored by Buy as you View Ltd and also by
Hartley's Printing Company. We
extend our thanks to our sponsors and to all those
who have supported these wonderful evenings.
In 2002 the Joshua Foundation held its first
Children’s Concert “Music of the World” in the
Midlands at the Bridge House Theatre, Warwick.
Such was the success of the show that in 2003 we
moved to a larger venue – The Royal Spa Centre,
Leamington Spa and held the show “One Voice” over
two nights
In 2003 the Joshua Foundation held its first
Children’s Concert “Music of the World” in the
“Heart of England” at the Neeld Hall, Chippenham
this was followed by the concert “One Voice” in
March 2004.
SOMETHING INSIDE SO
STRONG June 25th
2004 at The Brangwyn Hall Swansea
This year we had our inaugural
Children’s Concert in Swansea. Children and young
people from 7 local schools participated as well
as Swansea Male Choir, West Glamorgan Brass
Practice Band and Mal Pope.
We were very proud that 2 of our Oz Kids took
the stage for solos. Lowri Manger who travelled
with us to Australia in 2003, and Ryan Peters who
is working for the 2005 trip.
It was a fantastic evening and we were
overwhelmed with wonderful performance that the
children put on. There wasn’t a dry eye in the
house during Sarah’s contribution and we are still
receiving kind comments and gestures regarding the
evening.
The Children’s Concerts have raised over
£25,000 to help fund the experiences for TJF
terminally ill children and also provided the
experience of performing on a big stage for all of
the stars of the shows.
