What is gift aid?

Gift aid is a government initiative that enables us to increase your donation at no extra cost to you by an extra 28%.

Why is Gift aid so important to The Joshua Foundation?

Gift aid is so important to us as with all the extra donations we can provide more experiences and holidays for children with terminal cancer and their families. Making life a real experience for them. For every pound you donate, we can receive an extra 28p on top making your donation £1.28.

Do I qualify for Gift Aid?

As long as you are a UK tax payer and you pay an equal amount of capital gains or income tax to the amount the charity will claim in the year, your donation will qualify for Gift Aid (as long as we have a signed declaration from you).

If you are not a UK tax payer, you will not qualify for gift aid. Please let us know.

How do I Gift Aid my donation?

All you have to do is download the Gift Aid declaration form from this page and then send it with your donation or with reference to your donation to our address:

How do I cancel my declaration?

You can cancel your declaration at any time by informing us in writing to the above address. Please inform us if you are no longer a UK tax payer.

What if I make my donations through CAF (Charities Aid Foundation)?

If you make a donation using a CAF cheque, the tax has already been reclaimed. However, please fill out a Gift Aid declaration for any separate donations not through the CAF system.

Does Gift Aid apply to sponsorship?

Yes, we can claim Gift Aid on sponsored events. All you need to do is contact our office for a sponsor form and make sure that the donors fill out all of the required fields. Once the monies have been collected, please send with the sponsor form to the above address.

Connected persons can not Gift Aid their donations.A person is connected with a donor if that person is:

1. the wife or husband

2. a relative (brother, sister, ancestor (e.g. mother) or lineal descendant (e.g. grandson)

3. the wife or husband of a relative

4. a company under the control of the donor, or under control of connected persons.

Final points on Gift Aid

Gift Aid is a way of increasing your donation to The Joshua Foundation. For every £1 you donate we can make your donation worth £1.28 at no extra cost to you.

The Joshua Foundation will not share your personal information with anyone apart from the Inland Revenue.
