The Joshua Foundation’s 2007 Lapland trip was once again a huge success with all of the families having a fantastic time. The families were joined on their trip to Lapland by 8 Miss Wales finalists, who had all raised around £2,000 each for the charity as part of the Miss Wales competition.
All of the families stayed at the Town and Country Lodge in Bristol on Thursday 13th December as it was a very early start on the Friday morning to visit Santa!!
The three hour flight to Lapland was filled with Christmas spirit, as all the children sang Christmas carols and did festive coloring. On arrival in Lapland it was a mild -2, but everyone was still kitted out in thermal suits and snow boots.
We then set off to take part in the fantastic festive activities and to find the real Santa Claus! All the families took part in activities including snow mobiling, reindeer rides and husky dog rides. Each child then visited ‘Santa Claus’ to give him their Christmas wish list.
In between all the excitement most of the families made a pit stop to fill up with some hearty warm food, including hot chocolate and cookies! They were then off again to continue with their activities.
It was then time to say goodbye to Santa and head home, once everyone had devoured their traditional Christmas dinner on the plane most fell asleep having had a very busy and exciting day.
On arrival back at the hotel, all the families were then given their Christmas bags which contained some goodies for all the family.
More festive photos of our families are still to come so keep checking for an updated web page.
Comments from our Families
The Sambrook Family
Thank you for giving our family the opportunity to go to Lapland. This has been the worst year of our lives and it was such a special treat after such a traumatic year. From start to finish the organisation of the trip was exceptional.
We cannot fault anything about the trip. On the contrary, thank you for such a magical experience and for giving us the pleasure of seeing our children so happy!

Dear Alison,
Just a short note, to say thank you, to everyone at The Joshua Foundation, for a wonderful trip to Lapland. You and the staff of The Joshua Foundation made a little girl and her family very happy.
The work you do is truly amazing and it brings a lot of joy to the children and families who are fortunate enough to have your support.
The Jones Family
Once again we would like to thank you for our Magical Day.
Macs loved every moment, from telling jokes and singing on the coach to meeting the real Father Christmas.( He told every one in his class about the log cabin he lived in; his 'real' beard; how Father Christmas DIDN'T like sherry but drank milk when he came into our homes. How funny the Elves were and that Mrs.Christmas did all the cooking in their mountain house) He enjoyed riding the snow mobile with his Daddy, the reindeer pull made him laugh until his sides ached and amazingly, he never seemed to tire of Sledging.
What a different little boy to the one we had last year
The Bunston Family
Thank you very much for a fabulous time in Lapland; it was enjoyed by us all.
Alysha really enjoyed the husky sleigh ride and the snow mobile.
The last hour of the trip she spent on the push along sleighs with her Dad, while me and her older sister enjoyed some hot chocolate in the Church!
