Longleat Safari Park

The following day after the Halloween Party, on Friday 31st October, 19 families joined us for a day at Longleat Safari Park in Warminster. It was a very cold start from Cardiff West Services but as usual the children were in great spirits. The movie Ice age kept us all entertained during the drive as well as Longleat word searches and crosswords.

The drive around the safari park was our first port of call, the children loved seeing the zebras, camels and deer close up. The highlight though had to be driving through the monkey enclosure. Our driver looked a bit worried as we passed the sign enter at your own risk - he must have had a premonition as the monkeys bit through the cable to the coaches washer bottles. It was all worth it though to see the children’s faces as the monkeys climbed all over the coach.

The boat trip to see the sea lions and the train ride around the park also proved popular with everybody. By 4pm the warm coaches were a welcome sight as it really started to get cold – Ice age 2 entertained us on the way home and the weary families were dropped off back at the services. Thanks to all the families who joined us for a lovely day.
