Welcome to the Joshua Foundation’s
Corporate Partnership Pack
The Joshua Foundation is a worldwide charity
created in 1998 to provide holidays and experiences
for children and their families, where the child
is diagnosed with terminal cancer. The idea
behind the experiences and the holidays is to
allow the children and their families to escape
illness and the intimidating, clinical and sterile
atmosphere of hospitals. Our aim is to make
life a real experience for the children and
their families.
The charity takes its name from Joshua Cornelius,
from South Wales, who was diagnosed with Desmoplastic
Round Cell Tumour of the Abdomen, a terminal
cancer, in December 1996 and who died, aged
7 on December 4th 1998. |
Corporate Partnerships with the Joshua
Foundation
The Joshua Foundation has a proven track record
in developing powerful, mutually beneficial
partnerships with businesses. We bring to any
partnership an emotive charitable cause that
is appealing to so many and as a result well
supported across all age ranges and social groupings.
Working alongside a charity like the Joshua
Foundation can maximise staff involvement to
enhance motivation, internal communications
and team spirit as well as generating positive
publicity around corporate social responsibility
and fundraising activities.
We can work with your company in a number of
ways:-
1. Charity of the Year/Employee Fundraising
You could appoint the Joshua Foundation as
your company’s dedicated charity. This could
raise funds for us in a number of ways.
- Your company can make a tax efficient donation
to the Joshua Foundation. This can be allocated
to a specific project required. The donation
doesn’t necessarily have to financial. It
could be gifts in kind, donating products
services, employee time or use of company
resources.
- Your staff could fundraise for the Joshua
Foundation, which aside from raising funds
for our work with children with terminal cancer,
has the benefit of increasing staff motivation
and encourages team building.
- Members of your staff could take part in
our “Running and Trekking” programmes, as
detailed on the attached information sheet.
- Payroll Giving: This scheme allows your
employees to donate to the Joshua Foundation
directly from their salaries, pre-tax. Give
As You Earn donations mean that for every
£1 donated we gain an extra 28p from the taxman
at no cost to your employees. For more information
please click here. Companies can also match
the employees donations and boost staff morale
even further!
Case Example: Stena Ferries have adopted the Joshua Foundation
in 2005/2006. Not only is the company making
direct donations but the employees have been
involved in a variety of innovative and fun
fundraising initiatives. |
2. Sponsorship
We have a number of sponsorship opportunities
targeted at a varied and diverse audience. You
could sponsor one of our events, fund a promotional
campaign or more importantly sponsor one of
our group experiences for children with terminal
cancer, such as our annual trips to Lapland
from regional airports across the UK. Some of
your staff could then volunteer as team leaders
for such an experience.
Case Example: Meridian Recruitment, one of the UK’s largest
recruitment agencies has sponsored the 2006
“Strictly Cymru Dancing” Dinner at the National
Museum of Wales.
3. Cause Related Marketing (CRM)
Cause related marketing enables companies to
build a partnership with a charity to market
an image, product or service.
The benefits of CRM can include:
- Improved brand perception and recognition
- Increased sales, press and PR coverage
- Increased long term customer loyalty
- Increased awareness of the launch of a new
product.
Case Example: The Live42Day fashion brand, adopted the Joshua
Foundation as one of its principal charity partners
in 2005. In partnership with Giles Sports, the
leading sports apparel retailer, Live42Day wristbands
were sold across the UK, raising over £70K for
the Joshua Foundation. The Live42Day brand received
extensive exposure pre-launch and Giles Sports
helped to raise such an enormous amount for
our work with children with terminal cancer. |
